Italy, Rome

Rome, Italy
Rome is an open air museum. Walking in any direction will take you to a historic building, park, plaza and statue. The gardens that surround the Villa Borghese Pariioli are ablsolutely beautiful and it is where I found evidence of contemporary art at the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Modern located on the north end of the park. A trip to Rome is not complete with a tour of the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Vatican City, Pantheon and many incredible plazas. Take a good part of the day to visit the Vatican Museum. The contemporary collection of art, ( which is a relative term) refers to the religious collection. Artists include works by Ben Shahn, Henri Matsise, Salvidor Dali among others. The courtyard has a sculpture by Arnaldo Pomodoro.
